Community workers

We have occasional requests for experienced community workers to design and develop community programmes in Africa and Asia.

Roles are generally longer term, ranging from one to two years, but we also have occasional short-term assignments for up to six months.

You’ll have a degree in community development, community work or a related field and at least three years’ experience of community project planning and excellent management skills (five years for placements shorter than six months). You will also have previous experience in training or coaching other community workers.

Previous experience of working with marginalised groups such as people with HIV and AIDS or disabilities or with children would be advantageous, so would the ability to work in French.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work with community-based and non-governmental organisations to enable local people to bring about social change. Your work will help improve the quality of life for disabled people, women, young people and those living with HIV and AIDS.

You could be working in countries such as Uganda, Papua New Guinea, Zambia or Malawi.
