Fighting poverty

Our work fighting poverty

We live in a world where enough wealth exists that no one has to be poor. Yet poverty and inequality are rife. Even if you have the basic means for survival it is likely you will remain in poverty.

The reason? Good quality education, safe health services, reliable access to food and an income, and a voice in your own development are lacking.

VSO volunteers collaborate with our local partners around the world including governments, NGOs and civil society groups on work that increases access to these basic services. In doing so, we ensure that disadvantaged and marginalised communities have the tools to lift themselves out of poverty.
