We Need Doctors

Sharing skills. Changing lives.

VSO is an international development charity that works through volunteers. Our vision is a world without poverty where people work together to fulfil their potential.

There are many ways to change the world

Volunteering your skills overseas is one of them. By sharing your commitment to patient care, your vital expertise and your passion for medicine with local colleagues, you can start something great and make a noticeable change in some of the world's poorest countries.

We urgently need doctors available to go overseas for at least 1 year to work in hospitals and clinics in countries like Uganda, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.

Currently we are looking for doctors with a minimum of 3-5 years' post registration experience specialising in paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, infectious diseases and HIV & AIDS. You'll work at the front line of clinical need together with local colleagues, building skills and capacity to strengthen vital care.

To find out how to take action and become a VSO volunteer, click on the job title below that best suits your area of expertise.

Now is the best time to volunteer

The Government has announced a fund to cover the pensions of public servants who volunteer overseas with VSO between April 2008 and March 2011. Find out more about getting your public sector pension paid.
