Schools And Community Action

  Latest news

There are still 72 million children who don’t get the education they need. Find out how your school can help change this by taking part in the Global Campaign for Education

Why do something in your school or community?
With your help, we can raise awareness and understanding of disadvantage and challenge misconceptions about a country, culture or religion. Together, we can help others understand the links between the decisions made by governments, corporations or consumers and the lives of people around the world. And we can encourage people to take action in some way, to make a difference.

There are many things you can do to have an impact, from organising a talk, to hosting a film night, writing an article for your local paper or helping teachers bring a global dimension to the curriculum. We can support you to set up a school partnership between a school in the UK and a school in a developing country, promoting cultural exchange and shared learning.

Get support for School linking through DFID Global School Partnerships
VSO is proud to be one of the consortium partners managing the DFID Global School Partnerships Programme, which supports partnerships between schools in the UK and schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. The programme can provide guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to schools that are using school partnerships to develop a global dimension within their curriculum.
