For every pound donated, the Inland Revenue will give VSO an extra 28 pence if the donation is eligible for Gift Aid. We can access these funds if you use our official sponsor forms with the correct legal wording. Your sponsors must fill in their own details (including a full home address), sign their name and tick the Gift Aid box.
To make a Gift Aid donation, the donor must be a UK taxpayer, and what they pay in income tax or capital gains tax must at least equal the amount VSO will claim in the tax year. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Important notes:
For payment by post – if you collect all your donations and send us the total amount in a single payment we can claim GIFT AID provided you send your sponsor forms at the same time.
For payment online and by phone, if you wish to pay your sponsorship money collected into one single transaction, you cannot Gift Aid the donations made to VSO on behalf of your sponsors.
If you take part in a VSO Worldwide Challenge you must use the Worldwide Challenge Events sponsor form with the correct wording. You cannot count the money you raise through Gift Aid towards a fundraising target for a VSO Challenge.
You can download or order sponsor forms and Gift Aid declaration forms from the Resources page in this section.
