During 2006/07, VSO worked in some of the world's poorest countries, focusing on the development issues of education, HIV & AIDS, disability, health, secure livelihoods and participation and governance.
Over the last few years, VSO has been transformed from a British organisation into an international federation governed by an international Board of Trustees. The members and associates of the federation share a common cause but raise money, recruit volunteers and promote public awareness in different ways. In support of this key partnerships with organisations like Irish Aid and the Canadian International Development Agency are being strengthened.
'Sharing Skills, changing lives' has summed up VSO's work ever since 1958. As we approach our 50th year, the world we work in, the skills needed and the way VSO itself works are evolving, but the vision, the passion and the power of individuals working learning together stay the same
